Letter 36 - June 16, (1919)

Zionist Commission to Palestine – Tel-Aviv, JAFFA, Palestine

Dear Family,-

I’m sending this to show you that all of our troubles are not external. There are countless little trouble makers and general nuisances in our midst who delight in such criticism.

The American Section of the Interallied Commission on Mandates to Turkey are here, and we’re all quite busy – too busy to find much time to write. The local Jews are making a most favourable impression but I’m afraid that the commission is incapable of being impressing and has arrived here with preconceived notions.

This morning the local community of Jews had an hour to formally present its views, followed by an hour by the Z.C. Our interview was most unsatisfactory.

These are interesting times.

Lots of love,

Rudolf
